Lukas Fabianski
Our best goalkeeper since Phil Parkes deserves his own thread.

Looks like an unbelievable bit of business so far, and our best player this season up till now. No doubt this will curse him, but he just looks so composed, and doesn't make stupid mistakes.

Played, FLAPPIANSKI son. Maybe FIST-PUMP to the crowd, that's what earns respect at West Ham, not your keeping skills.

First to admit that I thought Adrian was good enough but this guy is CLASS.

Can't remember a goalie that we've had that makes me feel so assured.

Three way race for HOTY for me between him, Rice and Anderson.

Ha.

I gave my opinion, find it if you want.

You're posting on a thread I started.

Either stop being a pussy for once, and give a proper opinion and put your neck on the line instead of a load of waffle that gives you a get out at a later date, or dont bother posting if its apparently a 'pointless' discussion.

Don't get involved then.

Why be busy for something so pointless?

I agree, and probably on a very reasonable contract too. still three to four weeks until the General is back, but good to see Cresswell playing like his old self, Antonio too

Tom McAlister was one of the greatest shot stoppers I've seen for us. Crap at 50 yard pass backs from Steve Walford though...

Ha ha... good ol' Tom... yeah he done ok for us...

Merve the Swerve was not far off the England team.. this was the time of Shilton and Clemence... was superb for a coupe of seasons and I even had a pair of those cotton gardening gloves he used to wear...he then got married and I swear never made a save after that...

He's got to be one of the best buys of the season at SEVEN million.

A good point.

Watching them both, I think it is clear they are both much better than they were at Arsenal but it is still hard to compare them directly now because their careers took such different paths.

Re: Lukas Fabianski
I think what is also interesting is that when he was recruited by Arsenal, both Fab and Sczeny were considered CL level keepers for the future.
Capable of playing at the same level as what ever Bayern, Barca etc.. would be putting out.

Because Arsenal turned into a fucked up "selling club", Due to the club itself, Wengers woes and fans thinking they have a divine right etc.. Both Fan and Sczeney eventually got pushed out.

Maybe Fab really is at that high level and due to unforeseen bullshit he's had to prove himself over again and that's why we are starting to notice. A bit like how we got Payet or even Arnie have. Players who are actually at the top level but just fell through the cracks.

I don't think there was much difference between Fab and Sczeney at the time they were in Arsenal. However, Sczeny has just replaced Buffon and is no.1 at Juve. Maybe Fab was that level after all?

Re: Lukas Fabianski
Love him and he should help improve our defence for years to come

That said, comparing him to current world keepers is almost as pointless as comparing him to bygone era keepers.

We have no idea what the current Fabianksi would do in the same situations as Coutois or Ter Stegen or Handanovic or Donnarumma.

Or them here.

Fabianski is not the consensus best Polish keeper at the moment, but even that is subjective.
